I made another one, and it is soooooo pretty! My dear Pastor John and Tom commissioned this necklace for Tom's sister's 70th birthday. This is the first I have made using the green iris beads and I think that, when I finally make a Scheherazade necklace for myself, I'll make it in green iris. The jasper pendant and box clasp with an inset garnet add to the beautiful effect. I also added a little Celtic knot charm to the pendant, and not exactly in the center, just for a little more interest. I hope she likes it!

Tom's sister does not wear dangle earrings, so I needed to come up with an alternative to my usual teardrops. I borrowed an idea from Matsuko Sawanobori in her book,Antique Style Bead Accessories
I have really enjoyed this book for Matsuko's beautiful designs, even though I rarely make any of the projects the way she instructs. For one thing, she uses fine guage wire for a lot of the projects in the book, and frankly, my wire skills are not so great. Still, when I needed inspiration, I turned to her book, and there on page 50 are "Cluster Earrings," made by sewing loops of beads onto a perforated backing which can be attached to a post style earring. Taah-daah! They turned out rather splendidly, if I do say so!
Here's a side view of the cluster attached to the post earring.
